The Consumer Electronics Show (CES®) offers an opportunity for tech companies to show off and give us all a glimpse of what’s to come. While the newest headphones and smart speakers grab most of the headlines, here at Heritage Honda Westminster, we’re always on the lookout for cutting-edge automotive tech. The Honda brand has always been dedicated to pushing the automotive industry forward, and at this year’s CES, they shed light on some of the technology they’re investing in through Honda Xcelerator, a future-focused division that partners with other technological innovators.
DeepMap was one of six Honda Xcelerator partners who displayed their work at CES 2018. Their focus is on providing precise high-definition (HD) maps and real-time localization as a service to autonomous vehicles. The technology they’re developing is scalable to a large fleet, efficient, and resilient to sensor failures and varied driving conditions. Honda Xcelerator will work with DeepMap to enhance the safety of automated vehicles.
DynaOptics is another Honda Xcelerator partner focused on improving safety. They create free-form optic lenses that perform up to 50 percent better than conventional lenses across specifications including low-light performance, image quality, and form factor. By working with Honda Xcelerator, they aim to increase light to camera sensors so that objects can be detected quicker and easier than ever before.
WayRay has their sights set on some truly terrific tech. They’ve developed a holographic augmented reality (AR) navigation system for cars. This system turns the windshield of your car into your own personal holographic screen complete with real-time indicators for detection of road obstacles and pedestrians, points of interest, and upcoming hazards.
We’re excited to see what the future holds for the Honda brand. We’re also excited to show you the incredible technology already available in our Honda vehicle fleet. Head in now to our Westminster, MD Honda dealership to test-drive advanced vehicles like the 2018 Honda Civic.
